New Jersey took a slim lead in the Eastern Conference thanks to an overtime goal by Patrik Elias on an odd-man rush in a 2-1 win over hapless Tampa Bay. Zach Parise scored the other Devils goal while Martin Brodeur, with only 21 saves, got his 37th win this season and 531st of his career. Michel Ouellet had Tampa's goal. Elsewhere:

  • Edmonton's Andrew Cogliano scored in overtime to give the Oilers a 2-1 win over Columbus, which had tied the game with 0.8 seconds in regulation.
  • Atlanta got its first win since Feb. 15 as Johan Hedberg made 37 saves and was perfect in the shootout of a 3-2 victory. Erik Christensen had the only marker in the extra session.
