(Newser) – President Obama wrapped up his visit to Japan today with a speech in which he said the US would maintain its relationships with longtime allies in the region—like the host country—while pursuing stronger bonds with China. Indeed, Obama said, an ever-stronger China is not a threat to the US: “In an inter-connected world, power does not need to be a zero-sum game, and nations need not fear the success of another.”

the sad truth is that while China may not be a military threat, but they are an economic problem. their economy is slowly building up while ours has dropped substantially recently and we are still recovering. Since most of our manufactoring is done in China, we would be screwed if they decided to drop trade with the US. It is highly unlikely that they would ever do it, but its a possibility that would have dire consequences. so economically, China owns the US. i havent seem many things made int he US recently...

There has been international trade ever since there have been nations. I'm not against trade. ...far from it. One thing I am against is trans-national corporations using slave labor in one country to undercut the wages in another. This is one reason why corporations used to be temporary entities that had to demonstrate public good to exist. It's also one reason why we had tariffs.

The Queen was (rightfully) asking his age because d3 seems to want to live in the world of 1910. Globalists? What do you suggest, d3? No international trade? No travel beyond borders? No Internet? Just horses and taverns and whores?
