Anthony Weiner is finally seriously considering resigning, a source tells the New York Daily News. The relentless interest in and continuing revelations of the New York representative's sexting proclivities are beginning to convince him that he's not going to be able to push his way past the scandal and continue to be an effective legislator, according to the source. The last straw may be the newest set of leaked photos Weiner took of himself in various states of undress in the congressional gym. He was surprised those snaps took so long to surface, according to the source.

Weiner will likely have another heart-to-heart with his wife, Huma Abedin, who's currently traveling in Africa with boss Hillary Clinton, and with mentor New York congressman Chuck Schumer before making a final decision. Weiner has told friends that his wife, who's pregnant, doesn't plan to divorce him and wants him to stay in office. But he's now concerned about what Clinton might be advising Abedin, said the source. It's unlikely he'll make a final decision about stepping down until his wife returns Wednesday. Weiner, who is said to have spent hours pacing his Queens apartment the last few days, has told his staff he'll be gone from work for a few days for evaluation at a mental health center before he takes a leave for treatment.
