The day after playing a five-set marathon, Roger Federer dispatched his latest opponent, Tomas Berdych, 6-4, 7-6, 6-3 to move to the Australian Open's quarterfinals. Federer will go up against American James Blake, who defeated Marin Cilic 6-3, 6-4, 6-4, AP reports. In other fourth-round action:

David Ferrer got past his countryman and near-namesake Juan Carlos Ferrero, and will play No. 3 Novak Djokovic. Venus Williams defended her 8-seed with a quick 6-4, 6-4 win over Marta Domachowska, and will join the ranks of Justine Henin, Maria Sharapova, Jelena Jankovic, and sister Serena in the women's quarterfinals.
