British builder George Bentley and Edinburgh cleaner Sarah Kemp felt a strange connection when they met on an online dating site and chatted it up over the Internet. But an hour after their very first face-to-face date at a London bar, they discovered why: They were siblings. "To meet your long-lost brother, in a bar, after over 30 years would be something by itself," Kemp said. "But to meet him in those circumstances—on a date, for crying out loud—is something else. We obviously had far more in common than first thought."
Fortunately, they made the discovery before any "kisses and fumbles," reports the Daily Record. Their parents split more than 30 years ago, each one taking a child, and the kids immediately lost touch. When Bentley tried later to track down his sister he couldn't locate her because she had married then divorced, but kept her husband's name. That changed with the fateful meeting. "I would never have agreed to go to London on a blind date, but we hit it off from the beginning," says Sarah. "It was as if we'd known each other all our lives." (More siblings stories.)
