A woman infected by flesh-eating bacteria has died in California. Sacramento pastor Linda Snyder was rushed to a local hospital in January after a wound was overtaken by necrotizing fasciitis. "She developed lots of complications as a result of the bacteria and surgeries to contain the bacteria," her daughter told KTXL-TV. "Her lungs were scarred and she had pneumonia almost nonstop." Snyder is the sixth known victim of necrotizing fasciitis this year. The others are recovering.

Three people contracted the infection in Georgia, including Aimee Copeland, 24, after river water contaminated a cut on her leg. She has lost both hands, her left leg and right foot to the disease. Her condition was upgraded from critical to serious yesterday. (More Aimee Copeland stories.)
