It might not be long before you're hearkening back to those halcyon days when you were crunching your Doritos and reaching your red-stained fingers for a bottle of Mountain Dew with which to wash down the whole mass of red-and-green-dye-filled pre-type 2 diabetes. No, soon you could be swigging an orange-colored soda that tastes like cra... er, Doritos. The orange brew was spotted at a Kent State taste test, and posted to Reddit. "Was it some pleasant citrus variant?" Laura Northrup over at the Consumerist. "No. Flavor wizardry has brought us Dorito-flavored drinks. If this idea makes you want to blow up civilization and start over on a deserted island, you are not alone."

"It tasted like orange with a Doritos aftertaste," a Redditor explained. "It tasted like straight Doritos afterwards though." While that seems to invoke the gag reflex among most, the so-called Dewrito or Dewito does have expediency in its favor, writes Amanda Kooser at CNET. "This just combines the two into a convenient delivery system for caffeine, sugar, and fake cheese." Oh, and "it also helps that PepsiCo owns both the Mountain Dew and Doritos brands." Confirms a PepsiCo spokesperson: "We opened up the DEW flavor vault and gave students a chance to try this Doritos-inspired flavor as part of a small program at colleges and universities." (Arguably worse ideas have been had.)
