(Newser) – The Economist is out with a new ranking of the world's safest cities, and it finds that none from the US crack the top 10. The closest is San Francisco at No. 15. Japan, on the other hand, has two of the top three. The Safe Cities Index ranked 60 major cities on personal security (for example, urban crime), digital security (cyberattacks), health security (access to hospitals), and infrastructure security (safety of buildings, roads, etc.), per Quartz. The top 10, and their scores out of 100:

  1. Tokyo, 89.8
  2. Singapore, 89.6
  3. Osaka, 88.9
  4. Toronto, 87.4
  5. Melbourne, 87.3
  6. Amsterdam, 87.3
  7. Sydney, 86.7
  8. Stockholm, 86.7
  9. Hong Kong, 86.2
  10. Zurich, 85.2
Click for the full list, which has Los Angeles and Chicago (despite its gun violence) in the top 20 with San Francisco. (Read more Tokyo stories.)
