Though Starbucks' recent price hike averages just 9 cents a cup, that's still $50 a year for a java junkie with a five-latte-a-week habit. Save yourself with these tips from the Chicago Tribune:

  1. A 300-calorie snack in the afternoon is a healthier pick-me-up than coffee.

  1. Break the connection: Drink OJ out of your Starbucks mug, or try getting your fix somewhere cheaper.
  2. Wean yourself off caffeine.
  3. Do the math: Calculate the opportunity cost of walking to Starbucks and standing in line.
