While browsing Facebook photos of her friend's daughter, a UK pediatrics nurse noticed something wasn't quite right. Nicola Sharp was looking at a photo of Grace Freeman, 2, when she saw that the girl's left pupil appeared white, while the right pupil had the normal "red eye" effect from the camera flash. Sharp alerted Grace's mother to the possibility that Grace might have eye cancer, and the little girl was later diagnosed with retinoblastoma.

Grace lost all sight in her left eye, and doctors say she could have died had the cancer spread further, reports the Daily Mail. "There is no doubt in my mind that Nicola saved Grace's life," says the toddler's mother. "There were no signs that Grace had any problems with her eyes and we never would have known without her."
