Quake Kills 7 Near Iran Nuke Plant

For the second time this year, a deadly earthquake has struck close to Iran's only nuclear reactor—and rattled neighbors across the Persian Gulf. The 5.8 magnitude quake that hit 38 miles north of the Bushehr nuclear power plant, in the same region where a slightly stronger quake killed at least 37 people in April, reports the AP, which notes that seismic fault lines cross more than 90% of the country. Neither quake damaged the nuclear facility. Scientists say more strong quakes in the area are inevitable—but the Russian company that built the reactors insists it is safe.
