Looking for a fresh start somewhere? US News & World Report just released its first list of the best places to live in America. The publication used data from the US Census Bureau, FBI, and more; its own rankings of high schools and hospitals; and a survey of thousands of US residents to rank the 100 largest metropolitan areas in the US. "Top-ranked areas not only have steady job markets, but they also have attributes that contribute to a high quality of life—affordability, low crime rates, shorter commute times, and quality health care," a US News product manager says. Here are America's 10 best cities to live in:

  1. Denver, Colo.
  2. Austin, Texas
  3. Fayetteville, Ark.
  4. Raleigh-Durham, NC
  5. Colorado Springs, Colo.
  6. Boise, Idaho
  7. Seattle, Wash.
  8. Washington, DC
  9. San Francisco, Calif.
  10. San Jose, Calif.
