When the attorney general spoke Thursday before the release of the Mueller report, he gave what the New York Times characterized as a "vigorous defense" of President Trump. That was a similar theme, with the Hill using the phrase "robust defense." At the press conference, reporters flat out asked William Barr whether he was "spinning" for the president, as Democrats have charged, notes the Daily Beast. When a HuffPost reporter asked Barr whether it was an "impropriety for you to come out and sort of spin the report before people are able to read it,” he had a succinct response: "No." The news conference then wrapped up. (The report is now available to the public.)
