An emergency domestic abuse call turned out to be a misguided attempt to force a marriage proposal, WBBM reports. Chicago resident Ana Perez, 40, called 911 and told the dispatcher she was being attacked by her boyfriend. When police arrived, however, Perez admitted she wanted to scare him into proposing with officers' help. They declined and instead charged her with disorderly conduct.

"She called 911 to scare [her boyfriend] and have the police force him to marry her," says a local police captain. "It puts us in jeopardy and the public. It's not a good thing. It ticked the officers off." The boyfriend was apparently trying to break up with Perez when she called 911. Click here for more or here to read about a more successful approach.
