Christina Taylor Green’s parents managed to find something “amazing” in the midst of the tragedy of her death: her donated corneas helped two other children to see. “The fact that her organs were able to help people, that was an amazing thing to me," John Green tells the AP. "It's just another thing that this little girl has given the world.”

He and his wife didn’t have to think twice before deciding to donate their daughter’s organs, but the 9-year-old’s other organs may have been too damaged to use, he adds (although he previously said Christina's organs helped save a little girl). The fact that Christina is still helping other children is comforting, he says: "We really felt a lot of emotion about that. That was something that really made us feel gifted, still. We just want to make sure that her little time here in the world was well-spent."
