How do you top pizza wrapped in bacon? You whip up a pizza wrapped in pigs in a blanket, that's how. The totally serious creation comes to you from Pizza Hut, which has been testing what the Consumerist calls its "hot dog stuffed in a pizza crust" concept for eight years around the world, including in South Korea and Luxembourg. Early versions included full-length hot dogs baked inside the pizza crust, but the Hot Dog Bites Pizza will feature 28 pigs in a blanket bound around a large one-topping pizza pie, reports Fortune. The $11.99 pizza will be available in the US starting next week and until July 11, or while supplies last, reports Bloomberg.
The Impulsive Buy first reported the menu item could be coming stateside after a reader sent in a promotional flier that showed a Venn diagram with a hot dog in one circle and a pizza in the other. Pizza Hut, which proudly calls the pizza "the perfect combination for American taste buds," says "US fans have been asking for it ever since they saw it pop up around the world," per Bloomberg. Believe it or not, the Hot Dog Bites Pizza, sold with a side of French's mustard, isn't the craziest thing the restaurant chain has dreamed up. Pizza Hut Middle East has sold pizzas featuring crusts stuffed with both cheeseburgers and chicken nuggets, per Business Insider. (Read more Pizza Hut stories.)
