(Newser) – President Trump was up early Tuesday with a two-part tweet calling out Google and other sites as biased against him specifically and conservatives in general. Trump said the views of those on the right were being suppressed, suggested this was illegal, and warned that this "very serious situation" will be addressed. Politico notes that Trump seems to be referencing a story in the conservative PJ Media blog over the weekend charging that Google searches were biased and questioning whether the site was deliberately manipulating its algorithm to achieve the effect. The story offered no proof of the latter, however. "Google search results for 'Trump News' shows only the viewing/reporting of Fake New Media," wrote Trump. "In other words, they have it RIGGED, for me & others, so that almost all stories & news is BAD."

Trump complained that "Fake CNN" is prominent while conservative media outlets are nowhere to be found. "Illegal? 96% of results on 'Trump News' are from National Left-Wing Media, very dangerous," Trump continued. (That's the same percentage cited by the PJ Media story.) "Google & others are suppressing voices of Conservatives and hiding information and news that is good. They are controlling what we can & cannot see. This is a very serious situation-will be addressed!" As Axios notes, the criticism comes ahead of next week's congressional testimony by execs from Google, Facebook, and Twitter on election interference, and the tweets could be Trump's way of shifting the focus "to how he's a victim of social media." They also come after sites cracked down on Alex Jones' InfoWars content. (Read more President Trump stories.)
