A shooting spree through Denver and nearby Lakewood, Colorado, left at least five people dead Monday, including the suspected shooter, KKTV reports. Multiple people were also injured, including a Lakewood police officer who was in stable condition after being hospitalized with a gunshot wound, the AP reports. Three people were shot in the first incident in Denver, two of them females who were killed and the third a male who was hurt. Then a man was shot and killed. Shots were fired at a third location but no one was believed to be hit. Then Denver police spotted the suspect's car and a chase ensued. After a shootout between police and the suspect, the suspect got away by disabling the police car.

Then a person was fatally shot in Lakewood, and another shootout ensued when Lakewood police spotted the vehicle. This time, the suspect fled on foot, shooting another person whose condition is not currently known. Officers found the suspect again and during the final shootout that took place, the Lakewood officer was injured and the suspect was killed. It's not clear whether he was hit by police gunfire or took his own life. Police do not believe there are any other suspects, CBS Denver reports.
