Poles lined up by the thousands today to pay homage to their late president and his wife. Lech Kaczynski and Maria Kaczynska, two of the 96 victims of Saturday's plane crash in Russia, are lying in state at the presidential palace in Warsaw. Their daughter, Marta, and the president's twin brother, Jaroslaw, were among attendees at an emotional airport ceremony today when Maria's body—which had not been recovered when her husband's body was repatriated—arrived from Moscow, reports the BBC.

The first couple will be buried Sunday, a day after a memorial service for all of the victims in Warsaw. Meanwhile, the investigation into the crash continues, with officials saying they have no evidence to support speculation that Kaczynski pressured the pilots into landing despite thick fog. That theory and one about Russian air traffic controllers having trouble understanding the pilots have both been floated, notes the Guardian.
