Moammar Gadhafi has become paranoid, according to the people out to get his regime. The latest intelligence suggests that the strategy of turning up the heat on the Libyan leader has worked and he is now on the run, moving from hospital to hospital in fear of his life, say British diplomatic sources. Airstrikes on Tripoli have been stepped up this week, and Apache attack helicopters will soon be joining the hunt for regime leaders, the Guardian reports.

"There's clearly a link between the upping of the military pressure and what we assess is his state of mind. The more he thinks things are moving against him the better," a diplomatic source says. "There is a picture building up of this man who is very paranoid and a regime that's increasingly feeling under pressure and beginning to fracture." The Libyan regime's latest offer to NATO suggests that Gadhafi could stay on as a mere figurehead. (More Moammar Gadhafi stories.)
