Brad Woodhouse is liberal and brother Dallas Woodhouse is conservative, and as the pundits went back and forth on C-SPAN this morning, they were stopped short by a surprise call, reports Mediaite. “You’re right, I’m from down south,” said Joy from North Carolina. “And I’m your mother.” As she spoke, Dallas said, "Oh God, it's mom." It may sound like a setup, but host Steve Scully emphasized to the audience that Mrs. Woodhouse had called in on the regular line and that "this was not planned," reports the Washington Post.

Mom's point? She disagreed with her sons that their political bickering is common in American families. “I don’t know many families that are fighting at Thanksgiving,” she said. “I’m hoping you’ll have some of this out of your system when you come here for Christmas. I would really like a peaceful Christmas.” She loves her sons, she told Scully, and she's fine with them being passionate about politics. But it's the holidays, and "I hope they just kinda get this out of their system today on your program.” (More strange stuff stories.)
