Once more in Mavericks colors, Jason Kidd made his first game back in Dallas a good one. Kidd came two assists and a rebound shy of a triple-double as the Mavericks topped the Bulls, 102-94; he notched an assist on Dallas's first offensive possession, to the crowd's loud delight. Dirk Nowitzki led all scorers with 29 points.

Kidd's opposite number, Kirk Hinrich fouled out before halftime, struggling with Kidd over a loose ball and then protesting too vociferously. Mavs center Erick Dampier also fouled out, but not before tallying 16 rebounds and seven blocks—both season highs. Ben Gordon led the scrappy Bulls with 25 points. (More NBA stories.)
