(Newser) – In less than three weeks, people will converge en masse upon the polls, though how many turn out may depend on the state and how seriously people in each one take their civic duty. WalletHub looked more closely at all 50 states, plus DC, across 10 metrics for political engagement, including the percentage of voters who cast a ballot in 2016, political donations, and how accessible voting is in each state. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the District of Columbia ranked first. New Mexico came in last. Here, the 10 most and least politically engaged states, and their scores out of 100:

10 Most Engaged States

  1. District of Columbia; 79.2
  2. Maine; 69.3
  3. Utah; 61.5
  4. Maryland; 59.6
  5. Washington; 58.6
  6. Wyoming; 58.3
  7. Colorado; 58.2
  8. Montana; 55.7
  9. Virginia; 55.5
