Botched Castration Leads to Arrest in Florida
Gary Van Ryswyk.   (Facebook)

It's a pretty gory case out of Florida, but the Highlands County Sheriff's Department was punchy in explaining what happened: "This one is a little … let's just say sensitive," reads its Tuesday Facebook post. "You could even say it’s kinda nuts." Authorities say a deputy responding to a 911 hang-up late on Saturday was greeted at a Sebring home by Gary Van Ryswyk, who explained he had just castrated a man. That unnamed man was bleeding on a bed. "Nearby, there was a pink container which held two body parts that had recently been much closer to the victim," per the department.

It alleges the 74-year-old had fashioned a makeshift operating room in his home, one equipped with pain medicine, medical tools, and a camera, reports NBC News. Van Ryswyk reportedly said he had met the victim, who is in stable condition after being hospitalized, on the dark web, specifically a castration fetish site called eunuch.com. Van Ryswyk allegedly told the victim he had previously castrated animals and removed one of his own testicles. He's been arrested on suspicion of felony practicing medicine without a license resulting in bodily injury. The full Facebook post contains more castration-related jokes, among them: "Van Ryswyk had dropped the ball on this one." (Read another strange story out of Florida.)
