The US set another record for highest number of new coronavirus infections reported in a single day, with 87,164 new cases Thursday, CNN reports. It was the third time in a one-week period that a new daily case record was set, NBC News reports. The New York Times reports that while daily COVID-19 deaths remain below the peaks they hit in the spring, they are also starting to climb. Also Thursday, the total number of US cases crossed the 9 million mark. (More coronavirus stories.)
