Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Brandon Webb threw his second complete-game shutout in a row Saturday night, a 1-0 beauty against the Nationals. Webb broke his own team record with 33 consecutive scoreless innings and catapuled the D'Backs to their 17th victory in 20 games.

HIs shutout follows a 3-hit, 3-0 victory against Los Angeles last Sunday; the last time he allowed a run was in the sixth inning of a 6-2 loss to the Cubs in Chicago on July 20, five starts ago. Arizona clinched its seventh series in a row and are four games ahead of second-place San Diego in the NL West. (More Brandon Webb stories.)
