William Kristol may be on the opposite political spectrum as Keith Olbermann, but he thinks NBC overreacted in suspending him for donating to political candidates. "It’s an opinion show," he writes at the Weekly Standard. "If Olbermann wants to put his money where his mouth is, more power to him." Maybe, he suggests, parent GE is looking for brownie points in the new Republican Congress. He calls on fellow Republicans to help "keep Keith!"—to which Michelle Malkin replies, "Are you freaking kidding me?"

At Gawker, John Cook thinks it's a little weird that NBC is citing chapter and verse of its ethics code. "It's common knowledge within the organization that MSNBC's increasingly left-wing programming and personalities aren't required to abide by NBC News' exacting rules," he writes. "If you're going to suspend a guy for breaking the rules, they ought to apply to him." (More Keith Olbermann stories.)
