A Japanese man committed suicide live on the Internet this week, the Telegraph reports. The 24-year-old had been talking about his plans with members of a chat room from his apartment in the city of Sendai. Encouraged by some, he set up a webcam so he could stream it via the Ustream website.

Some tried to convince him to stop, while others encouraged him. After trying to hang himself from the balcony, he tried in various spots in his apartment, with some users jeering him to "get it over with." Eventually, local police were informed, but when they arrived at the apartment, he was already dead. A similar incident occurred in Florida a while back.
