She didn't go far: Workers at the Bronx Zoo found their missing cobra curled up in a corner of the zoo's Reptile House, reports the Daily News. She had slithered out of a fiberglass box nearly a week ago but apparently never made it out of the building. Zookeepers shut the Reptile House after the great escape, kept it dark and quiet, and finally found the snake this morning on one of their daily sweeps. She's under observation but appears none the worse for wear.
"We found our snake and we're very happy," says the zoo's director. "We knew it was going to be a game of patience. We set the place up to make it easier to search." The zoo will review its procedures, but nobody has been fired over the incident, notes the New York Post. Conspiracy theorists, take note: The snake's Twitter feed hasn't confirmed the capture yet.
