The environment thanks you, now get in the right lane with everybody else. Solo drivers of hybrid cars are no longer allowed in California's carpool lanes, reports the Los Angeles Times. The privilege initiated as incentive for drivers to buy low-emission vehicles expired at the end of June. The change affects about 85,000 hybrid owners—a third of whom live in LA. "I get sad looking at the other lanes now," says one. (More hybrid car stories.)
