MSNBC's Joe Scarborough is taking a unique approach to the 9/11 anniversary: He's released his own music video called Reason to Believe, writes Dan Needham of the Huffington Post, who writes a glowing review. (Not everyone is so kind; see Gawker.) "It's critical that we remember the heroes of 9/11 and those who are still fighting in an endless war," says Scarborough, who wrote and sang the anti-war song. "They need to come home. It's time." Sample lyric: "At the end of the hour / When I'm drained of all power / I still find the reason to believe."

  • Zara Golden, Mediaite: "We don’t usually expect musical prowess from our news anchors, and so we admit we were a bit surprised to find that Scarborough’s 9/11 tribute would come in tune. It’s a little corny, sure, but that’s just how most country songs like this are."
  • Choire Sicha, the Awl: "It's like a Kodak commercial of faux Americana but with disaster porn and then ostensibly, barely, gently anti-war? So hard to tell!"
