Second Teacher Arrested for Lewd Acts at LA School

More bad news from a Los Angeles-area elementary school: Only days after prosecutors accused a teacher of spoon-feeding semen to children, police arrested another teacher for allegedly fondling his students. Miramonte Elementary School teacher Martin Bernard Springer, 49, is said to have fondled two seven-year-old girls over the last three years, the Los Angeles Times reports. Police say the investigation is ongoing.

One link between Springer and the other alleged pervert, Mark Berndt: They took their classes on field trips together over the past decade. In the Berndt case, more people say their complaints about him were ignored: Two parents say they showed the school principal strange photos Berndt had taken of their daughter. And earlier this week, former students said they had complained in the 1990s about Berndt fondling a girl and masturbating behind his desk. In one case, a counselor told them not to make up stories.
