Maine Candidate Attacked for ... Playing World of Warcraft
The Maine GOP is sending out postcards like this one attacking Colleen Lachowicz.   (Maine GOP via Kotaku)

Would you want a state senator who enjoyed stabbing and poisoning people? The Maine GOP is betting you wouldn't, so they've launched what may be the most surreal campaign against Democrat Colleen Lachowicz, attacking her because (gasp!) she plays World of Warcraft. "In our world Colleen Lachowicz is a candidate for state senate," reads one attack postcard spotted by Kotaku. "In Colleen's online fantasy world, she is Santiaga, an orc assassination rogue."

The GOP has set up a website devoted to dredging up damning message board quotes like, "So I'm a level 68 orc rogue girl. That means I stab things…a lot… Who would have thought that a peace-lovin' social worker and democrat would enjoy that?!" or "I love poisoning and stabbing! It is fun," or "I got heavier into the assassination tree for the mutilate skill." The level 68 quote is out of date, incidentally; according to the press release the state GOP sent out, she is now level 85. (More Colleen Lachowicz stories.)
