"My parents decided they wanted to name their son something to make their parents mad," as Jack Daniels Leathers tells it. "And, at the time, my dad was drinking Jack, which he enjoyed. My mom said, 'Why not?'" Now the man named for whiskey has turned around and named his own son after a bourbon, reports the Courier in Houma, La.: Baby Jim Beam was born last month to Leathers and wife Lydia. "On our first date, we were talking about baby names," says dad. "We thought Jim Beam would be a good idea." And the fun with booze doesn't stop there: The couple managed to find a judge named Johnny Walker to marry them, and Leathers says that if little Jim Beam ever becomes a big brother, "our second born will be Evan Williams, after the bourbon. If it's a girl, she will be Sherry, like the cooking sherry." (More Jack Daniel's stories.)
