Kayla Mueller's Dad: US Put 'Policy' Before 'Lives'

"We understand the policy about not paying ransom," Carl Mueller, father of slain ISIS hostage Kayla Mueller, tells NBC. "But on the other hand, any parents out there would understand that you would want anything and everything done to bring your child home. And we tried. And we asked. But they put policy in front of American citizens' lives. So that's something they're going to work on." In an interview airing tomorrow Mueller's family discuss the death of the 26-year-old aid worker, with mom Marsha saying that "I think (the government) wanted to" do all it could to save her, "but I think again, it's the policy. And I don't think anyone had any idea this group would be as powerful as they were." (Read more Kayla Mueller stories.)
