The search continues for a sailor who went overboard the USS Normandy about 80 miles off the coast of Cherry Point, NC, Tuesday afternoon, reports the Virginian Pilot. Multiple naval and aircraft teams have joined the Normandy and coast guard in the search and rescue mission. According to the Navy Times, the Normandy was conducting independent training at the time of the incident. The sailor’s next of kin have been notified, but no details about the sailor’s identity have been released. "Our thoughts are with the USS Normandy family and we will provide updates as they become available," wrote Lt. Commander Brian Wierzbicki in an email.
