(Newser) – In 2015, life expectancy in the US was 78.8 years. But it varied widely for Americans living in different states—and even in different cities within the same state. Now 24/7 Wall St. has cataloged the city in every state with the lowest life expectancy—from 73.9 years in Gadsen, Alabama, to 80.9 in Burlington, Vermont—using 2014 data from the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation. The life expectancy in various cities is largely linked to the general wealth of their residents. Cities with the lowest life expectancy tended to have lower household incomes and more residents living in poverty. Here are the cities in every state where Americans live the shortest:
