(Newser) – Chip Alexander, the Carolina Hurricanes beat writer for the Raleigh News & Observer, was in the middle of WBZ-FM's Toucher & Rich radio show when he was abruptly cut off. Why? Turns out Boston sports talk radio host Fred Toettcher couldn't handle his voice. "I can't listen to a guy with a southern accent talk about hockey," Toettcher said after hanging up on Alexander—who thought he had just been cut off and tried calling back in; Toettcher ignored the call, per Sports Illustrated. "You know there are hockey teams in the south—many, in fact," noted Toettcher's co-host, to no avail. Alexander was on the show to preview the Hurricanes series against the Boston Bruins in the Eastern Conference finals, which starts Thursday night. (He made his living as an NHL fighter. Now, the lawsuit.)
