Most bridesmaids appreciate when they're told they can wear what they want on the big day, though usually that means choosing a favorite dress style or color. Christina Meador went ... a different route. Her get-up of choice at her sister Deanna Adams' Aug. 10 wedding in Nebraska: a T. rex costume, per USA Today. "When you're maid of honor and told you can wear anything you choose ... I regret nothing," Meador captioned a now-viral photo of herself on Facebook, showing her towering above her sister in her inflatable therapod-themed outfit during the ceremony, the other bridesmaids next to her in not-nearly-as-eye-catching garb. Meador explains to the Daily Mail that Adams knew she doesn't love formal dresses and didn't have a ton of money to spend on one, so she gave her younger sister free rein on outfit selection.
"I was trying to think of something that I would be willing to wear more than once and thought to myself, 'Well, she did say anything, and if I'm spending more than $50, I want it to be a dinosaur costume, because they're fantastic and I've always wanted one," Meador says. Not all response has been positive. "Why would you want to take any attention away from the bride on her big day?" one commenter wrote. But as KKTV notes, Adams wasn't blindsided: The bride even shared a screenshot of the text conversation she and Meador had about a month before the wedding, in which Adams offered her enthusiastic approval. "It's a giant middle finger at spending thousands of dollars and putting ungodly amounts of pressure on ourselves just to please a bunch of people who, in the end, only want free food and drinks," Adams responded to one commenter, adding, "My sister is awesome."
