(Newser) – A 17-year-old Oregon boy was posing for his high school senior portrait photos along a train bridge when he was fatally struck by a freight train, People reports. Deputies responded to the Troutdale Bridge, near the Columbia River Highway in Troutdale, around 6pm Saturday to find the boy dead, Oregon Live reports. No members of the Union Pacific train crew were hurt in the incident, says the company in a statement that adds: "Our thoughts are with the teen’s family and friends. We plead with parents, students and photographers to not take photos on or near the tracks."

Authorities tell Fox 12 a female photographer at the scene was "very shaken up." The station notes that "much of the area is fenced-off with no trespassing signs posted up and down the tracks, so it would have taken some effort to get near the tracks." The boy's identity has not been released. (Read more train accident stories.)
