Black cat haunts New York Giants at home

(Newser) – It might've been a sign of good luck had the Carolina Panthers been on the field. Instead, the New York Giants suffered a "cat-astrophe" Monday after a black cat interrupted the first half of an NFL game against the Dallas Cowboys, reports People. The cat sprinted onto the field at MetLife Stadium before briefly pausing at the two-yard line. If the feline was waiting for a pass, it didn't come, though several state troopers did. "Look at his change of direction. He's got great lateral movement," commentators said as the cat dashed through the end zone.

The feline—which Sports Illustrated's Madelyn Burke described as one of the stadium's "resident stray cats"—soon after escaped through a field-level tunnel. "Halloween isn't over yet," according to the Giants, which went on to lose a six-point lead and the game, for a five-game losing streak. Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence wasn't surprised. "I was like, man, the game's over," he told reporters later, per NFL.com. "If a black cat runs on the damn field on a Monday Night Football game, a black cat, you might as well call it quits, bro. Y'all luck is terrible." (Read more NFL stories.)
