Redesigned Time Cover Didn't Come From Time

(Newser) – President Trump's reelection campaign gave him a whole new look—and media presence—this week with a redesigned version of Time's "Person of the Year" cover, Newsweek reports. In a tweet, Trump War Room revealed the cover with Trump's head pasted onto Greta Thunberg's noticeably slimmer physique. "When it comes to keeping his promises, there's only one Person Of The Year," the campaign wrote, listing "Booming Economy" and "Record Job Creation" among his apparent "promises kept." For its part, Time argued that the 16-year-old climate activist has made an outsize impact by inspiring school marches and strikes around the planet, per the Hill.

“[Thunberg] represents a broader generational shift in the culture that we're seeing from the campuses of Hong Kong to the protests in Chile to Parkland, Fla., where the students marched against gun violence where young people are demanding change urgently," said Edward Felsenthal, the magazine's top editor. But Trump—who "is famously obsessed with being on the cover of Time," per the New Yorkercried foul after the cover was announced Wednesday, saying Thunberg "must work on her Anger Management problem, then go to a good old fashioned movie with a friend! Chill Greta, Chill!" The activist then rewrote her Twitter bio, wryly calling herself "a teenager working on her anger management problem." (See which big-name Democrat voiced support for Thunberg.)
