Airports to offer security lane for kin, travel newbies

Airports will allow families to line up in more leisurely security lanes for the coming holiday season, the AP reports. The checkpoints, which have proven popular in tests at 48 US airports, allow slow-moving families to stick together and less seasoned travelers to avoid scrambling for standard Transportation Security Administration procedure.

Anyone traveling with liquids necessary for medical treatment will also be shunted into the slower family security area. “Expanding these lanes to every airport,” a TSA official said, “increases passenger convenience and security.” The family lanes will be present at TSA security checkpoints by November 20 (More TSA stories.)
