The underdog Louisville Cardinals face off against undefeated Connecticut in tonight’s NCAA women’s basketball final, and if nothing else have undimmed optimism on their side, the Los Angeles Times reports. Most observers have their bets on the Huskies—just fine by one Louisville senior. “That’s how we win. So I hope they all wish Connecticut wins,” said All-American Angel McCoughtry. “We just want people to keep doubting us.”

“We’ve done it 38 times, hopefully we can do it one more time,” Connecticut’s coach Geno Auriemma said. But the Cardinals aren’t exactly an easy mark, riding a wave of tournament victories and a 34-4 season. “People have said that Geno has never lost a national championship,” said one Louisville player. “But neither has Coach Walz.” (More women's college basketball stories.)
