In a somewhat baffling move, Mary J. Blige has recorded a duet with alleged Rihanna-beater Chris Brown, Jezebel reports. Blige has been outspoken about her suffering at the hands of a former boyfriend and the terrors of growing up around domestic violence. To make matters more uncomfortable, it appears that the Blige/Brown song, leaked on the Internet, was originally intended for Brown and Rihanna.

When Brown and Rihanna briefly reconciled after February’s alleged beating, they were reportedly in the studio working on a song “about being stronger and growing stronger in a relationship” with producer Polow Da Don. The new Blige/Brown track was produced by…Polow Da Don. And it’s called Stronger. Blige has been elusive in her opinion of the Brown/Rihanna mess, saying only “they’re both young, and it’s hard when you’re young and you’re artists.” (More entertainment stories.)
