Philip Markoff’s ex-fiancée visited the accused “Craigslist killer” in jail two weeks ago to say goodbye, the Boston Herald reports. Megan McAllister told Markoff “that in all likelihood she would not be coming back to Boston," her lawyer said today, adding that though McAllister had originally stood by Markoff, she was alarmed by the facts coming to light.

Yesterday’s arraignment was a revelation for McAllister. “The facts that were brought forth in court yesterday were disturbing to her,” the lawyer said. The final meeting earlier this month was very “emotional,” and McAllister still holds out some hope for Markoff. “She loved the person that she knew,” the lawyer told NBC. “But ultimately, time and a court of law will decide whether or not that’s the real Philip Markoff.” (More crime stories.)
