The Utah man police have labeled a person of interest in his wife's disappearance has left the state with the couple's two young children. Joshua Powell, whose wife, Susan, vanished two weeks ago, turned up at a candlelight vigil in her parents' hometown in Washington state last night. Neighbors in West Valley City, Utah, say Powell left town to escape media attention, though he was surrounded by media in Washington. His wife's parents didn't speak to him at the vigil.

Investigators—who accuse Powell of being uncooperative—say there are no restrictions on his movements at this time, although his departure from the state mystified his wife's friends. "It's hard for us to understand that," a friend involved in the search for Susan Powell told the Salt Lake Tribune. "I wouldn't be leaving the state." (More Susan Powell missing stories.)
