Bernard Madoff's daughter-in-law has decided she no longer wants to carry the financial world's least-trusted name. Stephanie Madoff, wife of Madoff's son Mark, has filed a name change request for herself and her two young children, Audrey and Nicholas, in Manhattan court, the New York Daily News reports.

Stephanie wants to change the surnames for safety reasons and to ensure the children don't suffer for Grandpa Bernie's crimes, she explained. "Petitioner wishes to avoid additional embarrassment, harassment and endangerment associated with the name 'Madoff' by changing" it to Morgan, the court documents state. Mark Madoff has no objection to the change, according to the petition.
