Conan O’Brien’s breakout Twitter success—442,296 followers and counting—may be overshadowing the exploits of a coterie of related microbloggers. Conan’s beard (144 followers) has something to say, as do the squirrel who lives in his backyard (1,191), his freckles (14), and his Sharpie marker (10), the Los Angeles Times reports. “I’m famous!” tweets the beard.

Conan’s assorted body features, animals (there’s a monkey, too) and writing implements provide a support network for the erstwhile Tonight Show host. “This is only my 5th tweet and I’m already exhausted,” he observed yesterday. “My God, how does Ashton do it?” The squirrel was quick with a pithy rejoinder concerning prolific Twitterer Kutcher. “Ashton's squirrel just Direct Messaged me. He's kinda a tool.” The freckles chimed in: “You kick his ass in the total freckles body coverage thing. Never forget that.” (More Conan O'Brien stories.)
