A former doctor armed with a large knife hacked 8 children to death and injured 5 at an elementary school in eastern China today. The attacker, who has a history of mental health problems, was nabbed by police after the bloodbath at Nanping City Experimental Elementary School in Fujian province. His rampage was stopped by a security guard who knocked the weapon out of the man's hands with a mop, reports AP. China has witnessed several school attacks over the last years. They're often blamed on grudges or mental illnesses, triggering calls for improved security. (More crime stories.)
